Training workshop “Social Research Data Management: European Perspectives”

Level: Introductory

Training will be delivered by dr. Alexandra Stam (wiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences, FORS, Switzerland); dr. Audronė Telešiėnė (Kaunas University of Technology), dr. Rimanatas Rauleckas (Kaunas University of Technology), dr. Vaidas Morkevičius (Kaunas University of Technology), Ieva Cesevičiūtė (Kaunas University of Technology).

Lithuanian Data Archive for Social Sciences and Humanities (LiDA) and the Center for Data Analysis and Archiving (DAtA Center) of the Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) in collaboration with Consortium of European Social Science Data Archives pan-European Research Infrastructure (CESSDA ERIC) is organizing a workshop “Social Research Data Management: European Perspectives”. The main aim of the workshop is to raise awareness of research data management (RDM) in Lithuania. Since RDM and data management plans are rather new concepts for the Lithuanian research community, the workshop is meant to be a general type introduction to RDM for social scientists. There are three main expectations regarding the workshop:

  • To introduce Lithuanian social science community to the basic concepts and processes of research data management.
  • To raise awareness of LiDA/DatA Center and CESSDA ERIC and their expertise in research data management to both Lithuanian academic community and national policy makers/implementation authorities.
  • To gain practical skills and experience in delivering research data management training.

Agenda

  • Lecture on “Research data management – what, why and how?” (dr. Alexandra Stam, the Swiss Foundation for Research in Social Sciences (FORS)).
  • “OpenAIRE” project initiative to develop a RDM study module for doctoral studies (Ieva Cesevičiūtė (Kaunas University of Technology).
  • Practical assignments and shared best practice information to the participants using the CESSDA Research Data Management Tour Guide materials (dr. Audronė Telešiėnė (Kaunas University of Technology), dr. Rimanatas Rauleckas (Kaunas University of Technology), dr. Vaidas Morkevičius (Kaunas University of Technology)).

Duration of training is 8 acad. hours. Training will be done in English.

Training workshop is for researchers and doctoral students, research administrators of higher education institutions, representatives of science policy-making institutions and librarians.

Training workshop will take place at KTU Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, A. Mickevičiaus str. 37, auditorium 114:
October 18 (Thursday) 10:00 – 18:30

Training workshop is free of charge. After completing the training, participants are issued a certificate.
