May 15th-17th 2018 training “Introduction to Multilevel Modelling”

Description

Methodological training “Introduction to Multilevel Modelling“

Level: Introductory

Training will be delivered by dr. José M. Echavarren (Pablo de Olavide University Sevilla, Spain).

This course is an introduction to multilevel modelling techniques. Here we will combine theoretical and practical aspects of one of the most popular techniques for research in Social Science nowadays. Multilevel models are especially useful for cross-national research but are also employed in national databases using two (or three) levels of aggregation (very often used in health or education studies). Course participants will learn how to build linear, ordinal and logistic multilevel models. They will learn how and when to use random intercept or random slope models, two-way or three-way interactions. Usual problems they may encounter in their research using multilevel models will be examined and useful tips provided. SPSS will be the statistical package used for the course. Participants will have the chance to run their own models using their own data in a final practical lesson.

Methodological training will take place at KTU Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts, A. Mickevičiaus str. 37, Survey Laboratory (room 210):
May 15 (Tuesday) 9:00 – 13:00
May 16 (Wednesday) 9:00 – 13:00
May 17 (Tuesday) 9:00 – 13:00

Duration of training is 12 acad. hours. Training will be done in English.

Training is free for KTU SHMMF PhD students and staff. The fee for other participants – 80 EUR. After completing the training, participants are issued a certificate.
